SEVEN NEW LINES TO BECOME UNIVERSALLY ACCESSIBILE

Longueuil, December 7, 2018 - On Wednesday evening, the Board of Directors of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) approved the implementation of universal accessibility measures on seven new lines in 2019.

As such, lines 3, 10, 17, 21, 39, 41 and 43 will become accessible to individuals with reduced mobility who need a wheelchair or a motorized mobility aid to get around. Line 15, serving the Downtown terminal, will also be part of a pilot project involving the introduction of universal accessibility. Announcements will be made once each line is ready to be rolled out.

“This is excellent news for our users. In addition to the nine lines we already have that are universally accessible, these new lines will make it easier for our users to get around, not to mention solidify our commitment to gradually making our network accessible to individuals with reduced mobility. Each user is important to us, and we want to make their trips safe and enjoyable,” stated Pierre Brodeur, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.

The introduction of the new lines is conditional on the number of new RTL vehicles equipped with a ramp. In fact, the RTL is gradually upgrading its fleet of vehicles, with all buses after the 2012 models featuring a front ramp that allows individuals with reduced mobility to get on and off the bus easier.
