Longueuil, March 30, 2020 – In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil has a message to share with users.
“Our lives have been turned upside down by the current COVID-19 pandemic. Public transit systems are far from being immune to the situation and have had to make adjustments in order to continue fulfilling their mission of providing quality essential services to users. Since this crisis first hit, we’re proud to say that we’ve been delivering on our promise, day in and day out.
“Our teams meet daily and are working hard to keep our services running and apply the recommended measures for protecting our users and employees. We are in daily contact with the Ministère des Transports du Québec, public health authorities, the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain, and other transit corporations to make sure we’re all on the same page.
“To support the effort to contain the virus, we clean and disinfect our buses and facilities on a daily basis. Keeping our users and employees safe is our number one priority. We’re doing everything in our power to maintain service, because we know that many of you depend on it to get where you need to go.
“More than ever, it’s essential that we keep the lines of communication open with our users and employees. I will use all available means to keep you informed about how this crisis is likely to affect our services and you personally, so please keep an eye out for updates.
“I am asking for your full cooperation in complying with the hygiene measures ordered by the public health authorities. I also urge you to comply with the measures we are taking at the RTL in response to the evolving situation, especially to protect our drivers.
“In conclusion, I would like to commend the outstanding work being done by the RTL’s employees, who are working tirelessly every day to stay ahead of this situation. And I’m not the only one grateful for your hard work—I’ve seen the many messages on social media thanking each and every one of you. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Keep up the excellent work!
Best of luck to everyone. Together, we will get through this crisis.”
