Longueuil, March 12, 2021 – The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) and Groupe AFFI are launching a pilot project to improve public transit services for employees of the Boucherville-based company starting April 5.
The goal of the project is to improve the public transit experience for the employees, many of whom have a functional limitation. An extra departure toward the Longueuil terminal will be added to line 25, at the end of the weekday evening shift. On Saturdays and Sundays, the day shift will also get an extra morning departure from the Longueuil terminal and an afternoon departure toward the Longueuil terminal.
“With the changes in travel habits caused by the pandemic, the RTL wants to address the needs of businesses in a more targeted way, capturing new market shares to ensure more sustainable mobility services. In the case of Groupe AFFI, we’re very proud to be able to help their employees with reduced mobility get around better. This project is directly related to the RTL’s commitment to promote access to public transit for all users,” said Jonathan Tabarah, Chairman of the RTL Board of Directors.
“The RTL has been very flexible in accommodating the users who work at Groupe AFFI. By adapting its bus routes, it’s made travel much easier for our workers with limitations, which has improved their quality of life,” added Daniel Perreault, President and CEO of Groupe AFFI Logistique.
